This public park is located in Lisburn's Historic Quarter. Sir Fulke Conway chose this site as the perfect location for his 1622 manor house (Lisburn Castle). The Castle burnt down in the great fire of 1707 when most of Lisburn was destroyed. The only remaining feature of the Castle is the entrance gateway and the 1677 date stone is still visable today.
The large monument in the park commemorates Sir Richard Wallace. Amongst Sir Richard's legacies to the town are Wallace Park and several ornate drinking fountains in Lisburn.
